    1922 Boxing Ephemera From First Boxing Match in Japan. As boxing's popularity grew in the 1920's, it eventually began branching out to the East. In 1922, the first boxing match was held in Japan between Yaso Matasua and Shiden Roche. Items included in this lot include a 4.5x6.5" photograph of Matasua, signed on the back by promoter Moose Saussig, a4x5.5" photo of the first boxing club members, signed on the back by Saussig, and a 3x5.5" photo of the first match, signed on verso by Saussig. Also included is a 4.5x6" photo of the Japanese Olympic Boxing Team from 1928. Finally, a Japanese flag is included, with a note to Saussig to accept the flag in appreciation of helping promote the first boxing show in Japan, signed by coach and president Y. Watanabe.
