Description

1910 Johnson vs. Jeffries Post-Fight Souvenir Program. Issued shortly after Johnson stunned the boxing world with his July 1910 assumption of the Heavyweight Championship title, this sixteen-page booklet entitled "Souvenir of the Great Contest" was released, recounting the highlights of what may be the most culturally significant prize fight of the twentieth century. Our favorite page is the one dedicated to a photograph of the knockout, which finds Johnson standing over Jeffries in front of a sea of white-skinned spectators, not a single one of them raising an arm or stirring in any way. The exceedingly rare publication exhibits a degree of storage wear and a vertical crease from a center fold, but remains complete and fully intact. One of the only examples known to survive within the hobby.
