1908 Fred Welsh vs. Johnny Murphy Fight Contract, Signed by Welsh. On the heels of another important early boxing contract paperwork, an addendum for the famous Sullivan vs. Corbett match that realized $16,730 in our February Platinum Night auction, comes this official contract setting lightweight contenders Welsh and Murphy on a collision course in Los Angeles on August 14, 1908. The bout went the full twenty-five rounds as stipulated in the first sentence of the typed agreement, with Welsh delivering a one-sided beating to the overmatched Murphy. Six years later, Welsh would become Lightweight Champion of the World with a victory over Willie Ritchie in London. The single typed page bears a couple handwritten addendums and is signed by representatives of Murphy and Jim Jeffries, who is listed as one of the potential referees and apparently held some financial stock in the contest. Welsh signs for himself. The page exhibits general aging but presents nicely in a mat with modern prints of photos of each fighter. Total dimensions of display 11x22". Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.

Just wanted to let you know how pleased I am regarding the sale of my hockey jersey. You were great to work with, you answered all my phone calls and e-mails in a prompt manner, and you did a great job marketing the jersey.
