1905 Hart vs. Root Full Ticket. Rare unused ticket for a July 3rd bout in Reno was the desert town's first prize fight, and was waged to determine who would assume Jim Jeffries' title upon his retirement. Marvin Hart was the winner, and Jeffries conferred his title to him as the ring referee. The title of Heavyweight Champ remained in dispute however, with top ranked Heavyweights like Jack O'Brien, Gus Ruhlin and Jack Johnson questioning the legitimacy. This is the first ticket we've ever encountered for what may or may not be the first Heavyweight Championship bout in Reno, but is certainly the first prize fight there. Remarkable condition, with light corner wear all that undermines a NRMT rating.
