Signed & Dated Gene Tunney Autograph Album Page with Photo. "The Fighting Marine" Gene Tunney and "The Manassa Mauler" Jack Dempsey had a strong rivalry. Tunney and Dempsey first matched up on Sept. 23, 1926 resulting in a World Heavyweight Championship title for Tunney, winning the title on points in ten-rounds. It was a distinction Dempsey had enjoyed since 1919. Their re-match, now known as "The Long Count" on Sept, 22, 1927 proved to be much more controversial and is still contested to this day. In between those two bouts Gene Tunney signed this 7-1/4x6-1/4" album page for some passionate fight fan who added a waist-high, sepia cut-out portrait to the large autograph, salutation and date. In bold, black fountain pen ink, the reigning champ signed, "With very best wishes. Gene Tunney" and dating it "Mar. 9- (19)27." Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
