Circa 1920 James Jeffries Signed Cabinet Photograph. Never even knocked down during his prime, this iron-willed, granite-jawed Champion once offered to fight his three top challengers--Bob Fitzsimmons, Jim Corbett and Tom Sharkey--all on the same night. They refused. For years Jeffries ruled the Heavyweight division until Jack Johnson finally stripped him of his Championship in Reno in 1910. In this fantastic image dating from his post-fighting days, Jeffries sits on a bench with three friends, apparently in preparation for some sort of musical performance (note the sheet music in their hands). A black ink signature, "Jas. J. Jeffries" is a strong 9/10 at their feet. Photographic image is 6.5x8", and offers only minimal foxing as a (very minor) condition concern. The mount extends the dimensions to 10x12" in size, and shows typical edge and corner wear. LOA from Craig Hamilton / JO Sports. Additional LOA from Steve Grad & Zach Rullo/ PSA DNA.
