    Description

1990 Muhammad Ali Original Artwork on Tablecloth. The former Heavyweight Champion of the World proves that not only could he float like a butterfly and sting like a bee, but he could draw like an Old Master as well. Actually, that may be overstating his artistic prowess a bit, but, like everything the great Ali did, his illustration skills do show a certain flair, and this piece demonstrates those talents better than any other Ali artwork we've seen. Those familiar with the legendary pugilist's doodles will recognize several of the themes that he features here, all finding a home on a coffee-stained tablecloth from a September 7, 1990 banquet that Ali attended. Spaceships zoom across the white cotton sky, drifting above a lunar landscape. A fat-bottomed woman shares space with a cartoonish asian man and a sad little boy. A race car, a tree, a house. Best is an image of a boxing ring with two fighters squaring off at the center. The artist identifies one as "Ali," the other "Frazier." The work is punctuated by no fewer than three perfect ink autographs from The Greatest, further cementing the status of this piece as the most desirable Ali art on earth. The tablecloth measures 50x112" in size, with the artwork covering 24x34" inches of that area. All drawings and autographs remain as strong as the day they were applied by Ali.
