    Description

The Greatest predicts his victory two months before historic bout!

1974 Muhammad Ali Signed "Rumble in the Jungle" LeRoy Neiman Print Inscribed to Angelo Dundee.

    UPDATE: Framed dimensions are 30x40".

The Nostradamus of the squared circle, Muhammad Ali was known almost as well for his uncanny predictions as he was for his brash confidence. Both are on display in this remarkable relic that stands as one of the most significant signed boxing items ever sold at auction. It derives from the personal collection of Angelo Dundee, the celebrated trainer and mentor who joins his student in the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota.

If you recognize the artwork, you're probably remembering of the official program that was sold at all American closed-circuit television broadcasts, a kaleidoscopic study of the two Heavyweight immortals in the distinctive expressionistic style of LeRoy Neiman. A highly collectible limited edition (24/300) print in its own right, this particular example is elevated to the pinnacle of desirability by the inscription along the lower border.

Just to the left of Neiman's signature, the man whose successful "Rope-a-Dope" strategy shocked the sporting world writes:

"To Angelo Dundee from the Greatest Fighter you have ever had, Muhammad Ali, King of the Heavy's, Sept 5 -74, Next Champ."

On October 30, Ali would keep his word.

While it's typically the first trip to the mountain top of a sport that is held in the highest regard, this return after having been stripped of his belt for his principled stance against the Vietnam War speaks more directly to the legend of Muhammad Ali. It stands as a tangible testament to the extraordinary courage and resolve of a man whose contributions to American and global culture are as profound as any athlete in history. Framed dimensions 30x40".

Print is signed by Dundee himself on reverse, and is accompanied by a photo of Dundee posing with the piece, and a family letter. Letter of provenance from Dundee family. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
