1926-27 Jack Dempsey vs. Gene Tunney Signed Ticket Display. "The Fighting Marine" Gene Tunney and "The Manassa Mauler" Jack Dempsey had a strong rivalry in 1926-27, as attested to by this framed display piece. First matching up in 1926, after Dempsey had enjoyed the championship title since 1919, Tunney won the title on points in ten-rounds. A re-match in 1927 proved to be much more controversial, and is still contested to this day and known as "The Long Count." This display includes pictures of both pugilists, as well as full tickets to each of the matches. Both tickets display in the VG to EX range. In the middle of the display is a stub from the 1927 fight, signed by both fighters in 3/10 ink. Framed to overall dimensions of 18x22." Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
