1984 Mike Tyson First Boxer-Manager Contract Signed by Tyson, Jimmy Jacobs & Jose Torres. This is an extremely important boxing artifact because it chronicles the start of one of the most sensational careers in boxing history. While Mike Tyson experienced many high profile tribulations and disappointments in and out of the ring during his career, one thing cannot be denied is that, at his peak, when he had the right people around him and he was focused exclusively on boxing, there has never been a more dominating and devastating fighter to ever step into a ring. The raw power, cat-like quickness, defensive mechanics, and overall explosiveness which Tyson encapsulated in Cus D'Amato's peek-a-boo fighting style has never been duplicated.

"New York State Athletic Commission Boxer-Manager Contract" between "Michael Gerard Tyson" of Catskill, New York and "Jim Jacobs" was Iron Mike's first professional boxer-manager contract, predating his first professional bout against Hector Mercedes in March of 1985 by four months. The agreement is for four years and agrees to pay Jacobs "33 1/3" and Tyson "66 2/3" after expenses, while guaranteeing Tyson not "less than $50,000" in one contract year. The four Mint signatures which appear at the bottom include Mike Tyson, Jimmy Jacobs, and Jose Torres (twice, New York State Boxing Commissioner).

Jacobs and Torres are highly significant figures, both in their own rite and in relation to Tyson. Jacobs the was the world's greatest handball player, owned the world's largest collection of fight films, and accumulated nearly 1 million comic books. He, along with Cus D'Amato, Kevin Rooney and Bill Cayton, formed the brain trust of Team Tyson at its zenith. It was only after the deaths of Jacobs and D'Amato, and the departure of Rooney, that Tyson's career went into a tailspin. Torres, meanwhile, was a disciple of D'Amato and a light heavyweight champion.

Letter of provenance from Tyson's former assistant manager. Matted and framed 11x16.5" (8x13.5" of the contract is visible). Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Full LOA from SGC Authentic.
