1929 James J. Corbett Signed "The Roar of the Crowd" Hardcover Book. The first and only man to beat the Boston Strongboy John L. Sullivan, an historic episode which the reigning Heavyweight Champ from 1892-97 recounts in fine detail in this edition of "The Roar of the Crowd." The front blank flyleaf bears a 7/10 vintage black fountain pen inscription from the early pugilist, reading "To My dear friend Dr. H.S. Porter, with warmest regards, Jas. J. Corbett., Oct 17/29." This page, and one to follow, are loose from the binding but otherwise undamaged. The book includes the dust jacket and shows moderate wear throughout. A fine addition to any collection of athlete signed books. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
