1910 Johnson/Jeffries Fight of the Century Souvenir Change Purse. The great fight that solidified the position of the legendary black champion Jack Johnson atop the boxing world was a seminal moment in a century of boxing lore. A full 100 years later, memorabilia from the epic event still draws great interest from boxing collectors. Offered here is a 3.25-inch square leather change purse, with rounded lower left and right corners and ornate tooling on the front side and a representation of the two fighters on the reverse. The change purse is in highly collectible condition, with some wear in the accordion-like purse bottom section and a bit of corrosion around the two snaps on the front and the two receptacles for the snaps. The purse is displayed in the old-fashion 5-by-6-inch heavy cardboard box with plate glass top, the kind of arrangement most typically found in advanced collections or even museums.
