    Description

1902 Young Corbett vs. Terry McGovern Phantom Ticket. These Hall of Fame fighters battled twice for the Featherweight Championship of the World, with Corbett winning both matches by knockout. The first meeting was in Hartford, Connecticut in November 1901 and the second in San Francisco in March 1903, which leaves the presented ticket for an August 29, 1902 meeting in New London, Connecticut a bit of a mystery. One must assume that an expected bout never materialized, with the rematch postponed to the San Francisco event. This is the first ticket we've encountered from this canceled event, and it remains in marvelous EX-MT condition.
