Rare 1928-29 Exhibit Boxing Double Headers (25 different). This late 1920's boxing issue are called "Double Headers" because the cards feature different boxers' pictures on both fronts and backs of each card. They are also pretty scarce. What is really interesting is that print on the sides of individual cards is usually done in different colors. Some of these cards are found in colors not known as part of the regular dated series. The most common color combinations are green and red stock and green and yellow stock. Some of the cards bear copyright lines for the Exhibit Supply Company but are undated. Certain fighters are not known in any of the dated sets. The date of late 1928 to 1929 is given due to the overlap with the 1928 set with the first appearances of certain fighters like Al Singer. Between color and copy variations there could be hundreds of different cards for you master set builders. This mix and match approach is consistent with ESCO entertainment issues. Includes the Dempsey/Singer (PR) and Hall of Famers Tony Canzoneri, Midget Mike O'Dowd, Sid Terris, Tommy Loughran and Young Corbett III. Grades 36% VG to EX, 64% lesser. See our web site for a checklist of this presentation.
