    Description

Circa 1915 "Raver Star" James J. Corbett Felt Pennant. While the baseball, state flags or celebrity subjects are well known and widely collected, felts featuring other subjects are quite a bit more scarce. This attractive, lush purple pennant shaped felt measures a sizeable 3" x 7-1/4" and features heavyweight boxing legend James J. Corbett, best known for being the one man to defeat the Irish titan John L. Sullivan. The brand is "Raver Star" and to the best of our research this is the first of this type being offered at public auction. The print has remained largely unscathed while the formal portrait of Mr. Corbett has a few creases but visual appeal has been hardly compromised. A scarce and desirable boxing collectible.
