    Description

    C. 1890's Peter Maher Imperial Cabinet Photograph. An Irish-born boxer known for his punching power, Maher won the 1888 Middleweight Championship of Ireland, and the 1890 Heavyweight Championship of Ireland. After immigrating to the United States, Maher would claim the 1895 Heavyweight Championship of the World match by knocking out Steve O'Donnell in the first round. The legendary Bob Fitzsimmons would dethrone him the following year. The presented unidentified (thus the SGC Authentic assessment) imperial cabinet pictures the dangerous slugger in a finely detailed, sepia-fighting pose. Card mount is 5-1/4" x 8-3/16" with rounded corners. Previous mounting removal accounts for the entirety of notable condition concerns.
