Description

1932 U.S. Caramel Jack Dempsey #22 SGC 35 Good+ 2.5. This auction features the final examples from a fresh collection of U.S. Caramels that yielded some the nicest cards to surface in decades. We have to thank the very existence of this collection on a descendent of the man who bought them in back in 1932 and obviously and wisely choose to never handle them. The classic "cigar box" find, the cards lay dormant for the better part of a century in a box adorned, appropriately enough, with stamps and paper ephemera about the 1932 Olympics. This series did more than just feature baseball's finest. The top pugilist of the era was honored on card #22 - Jack Dempsey. Depicted here clad in a suit and tie, the card at first looks to be an strong "EX/MT" copy but there is some faint spider wrinkling/crease to explain the SGC 35 Good+ 2.5 assessment.
