1911 E78 "Anonymous" Abe Attell SGC 84 NM 7. Graded 84 NM 7 by SGC, the highest graded example of only three recorded to date. Hitting a tri-fecta in card collecting is about having quality, rarity and subject matter. With that being said, this item hits that tri-fecta. The quality is obvious, it is the best example reviewed by any grading service. Rarity, E78s overall are easily among the top five most most difficult 20th Century boxing issues and by far the most difficult "E" series. The boxer is Abe Attell. "The Little Hebrew" began boxing in 1900 and by 1903 became the World's Featherweight Champion by beating George Dixon at the rip age of 18. It was around this period Abe became friends with noted gangster Arnold Rothstein. Rothstein was responsible for hatching the plan to fix the 1919 World Series. Attell acted as liaison between Rothstein and the eight "Black Sox" players who are now banned from baseball for life, and beyond as it seems. A rare chance to acquire a quality piece of one of baseball's and boxing more intriguing figures.
