Description

1910 E-Unc Candy Jack Johnson. Presumed to have been issued to commemorate what was being touted as the fight of the ages, this is one of two rarities that are believed to have been circulated as portions of boxes of candy. On July 4, 1910, Jack Johnson and James Jeffries went 14 rounds before Johnson knocked out Jeffries handing him his only career loss. Considering Jeffries returned to boxing after six years for no other reason but to beat the first African-American heavyweight champion, his loss was a blow to not only Jeffries legacy but to racism everywhere. The card shows creasing and corner wear with a glossy surface. An appealing and scarce entry with historical relevance.
