    Description

1890's John L. Sullivan Cabinet Photo "Yours Truly"SGC 20 Fair 1.5. Impressive photograph of the greatest figure in 19th century pugilism with his fighting record printed on the reverse, the latest date entry from 1889. The sepia image finds the Boston Strong Boy in formal garb, looking far more dapper than one might expect of the world's most dangerous fist fighter. A lack of studio stamping keep its origins a mystery but the "Your's Truly. John L. Sullivan." copy strongly suggest these were a souvenir or give-away at Sullivan appearances. The image area shows minor staining. The 4-1/8" x 6-3/8" card mount shows some wear and there is one very short tear in the mount in the upper right. Still, the SGC 20 Fair 1.5 assessment seems conservative. .
