1888 N332 S. F. Hess John Morrissey SGC 10 Poor 1. Graded 10 Poor 1 by SGC, this is the only example of this card graded to date. The life of John Morrissey can be called a true "rags to riches" story. Starting his life as a bare-knuckle boxer, gambler and street thug from New York, Morrissey would eventually become a State Senator and US Congressman. His nickname "Old Smoke" came from a fight where he was pinned on burning coals during a fight only to come back and beat his opponent to within inches of his life all while smoke was coming from his back. The offered rarity appears EX/MT but a review of the reverse shows three areas of loss of the top surface layer. Morrissey is pictured from his later days as a politician in formal attire.
