    Description

1887 N28 Allen & Ginter John L. Sullivan SGC 84 NM 7 - Pop 1-of-1 and Highest Grade Known! Graded SGC 84 NM 7 by SGC. The stand alone highest graded reigning champion of the over 30 recorded N28 Allen & Ginter John L. Sullivan cards. Boxing fans are all too well aware of Sullivan's supremacy in the ring. A national icon of the sport deserves a just as impressive collectible to display his boldly colored waist high portrait. It is so appropriate that this antique resides from a series titled "World's Champions." Offered is a beautiful example of Sullivan that contradicts the fact that it is actually over 120 years old. The slight background blemish on the reverse still did not stop the traditionally conservative SGC grader from recognizing the true overall quality. With virtually problem free surfaces and four sharp corners, we have nothing but obverse centering, which rests just to left of center, which serves nothing else but to satisfy an inner desire to criticize something. Near Mint condition.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
