    Description

Circa 1888 Thomas Stevens Stevengraph Boxer Silks Complete Set (4). Gorgeous Victorian-era silk was crafted by the famous Coventry, England silk weavers of the Thomas Stevens gallery, one of a series of four celebrating the great bare-knuckle Heavyweights of the late 19th century. Biographical text on verso of the 5.25x7" cardboard mount dates the pieces to around 1888. The craftsmanship of these very rare collectibles is beyond approach. The complete set includes C. Mitchell, Jem Smith, Jake Kilrain and John L. Sullivan (paper glued to reverse). The mounts certainly show their age but the interior silks show minimal to no staining and no obvious damage.
