    Description

1924 V137 Willard's Chocolate Boxers Complete Set (56). "Willard's Chocolates" and "complete set" don't appear very often in the same title. This sepia colored 56-card series of Prizefighters saw its distribution limited to the Canadian market. Piecing together a complete set is quite challenging for the modern boxing enthusiast. A gamut of pugilistic greatness dating back the 1880's is found among the fifty-six 1-5/16" x 3-3/16" blank-backed subjects including Jack Dempsey, Jim Jeffries, Stanley Ketchel, Benny Leonard, John L. Sullivan and Jim Corbett plus others. V137s are a prized addition in any vintage boxing collection. Includes: Graded - SGC 84 NM 7: 1 card, Kilbane; SGC 60 EX 5: 4 cards, w/Firpo, Martin, Slaney and John L. Sullivan; SGC 50 VG/EX 4: 3 cards, w/Corbett, Dempsey and Jeffries. Ungraded - including: Fitzsimmons (VG), Ketchel (VG), Leonard (GD), Moran (VG/EX), Sharkey (VG/EX), Willard (VG). Grades 33% EX or better, 49% VG to VG/EX, 17% GD to GD/VG with a few lesser.
