1886 N167 Old Judge Jem Smith SGC 40 VG 3. Graded 40 VG 3 by SGC, the only example at the grade level with one higher. Vertical reverse format. At 5' 8" and over 200 pounds, Jem Smith was a stocky English bare-knuckle brawler who would somehow become the English Heavyweight Champion. Fighting for over 35 years, his career bridged the bare-knuckle era and the turn of the century. This extremely rare offering has a pair of slight wrinkles and light corner wear. The bold front and back print, along with bright white borders creates the initial impression of an excellent condition collectible. The other two known pugilists are also offered as separate lots in this auction. This is a unique opportunity to acquire in one auction a complete trio of N167 boxers probably never to be equaled.
