2018-19 Toronto Raptors NBA Championship Ring --The First to Appear at Auction! It had been twenty-six years since the nation of Canada had enjoyed the view from the highest peak of any of the four major sports, their last successful ascent supplied by the 1993 Toronto Blue Jays. So when that long drought finally came to an end with an Finals Game Six victory to clinch the 2019 NBA Championship against Golden State, the management of the Toronto Raptors instructed its ring designers to go big or go home.

Clearly they chose the former, creating one of the most outrageous rings ever delivered to a sports champion, a truly massive and dazzling showpiece with enough gold and diamonds to make a rapper blush. And believe it or not, this is the "B" level ring, virtually identical but not quite as opulent as those earned between the lines by Kawhi Leonard, Fred VanVleet and Marc Gasol. This particular staff ring belonged to a member of the Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment management team which oversees the Raptors, the Maple Leafs and the Argonauts, among other Toronto franchises.

A staggering array of genuine diamonds (seventy-four, to represent team victories) coats virtually every square millimeter of the ring face, which features imagery of Larry O'Brien Trophy towering over the Toronto skyline (notably the CN Tower) and the word "North" on the team's chevron logo. The bezel of the ring provides the jersey numbers of all players separated by rubies, with another layer of diamonds below. Left shank boldly proclaims, "World Champions 2019," with still more diamonds applied to the figural basketball below. Right shank features a diamond-studded Maple Leaf amidst "Toronto, Toronto Raptors" text (our consignor chose to have this text on the ring instead of the standard recipient's name on the side shank). Interior band is engraved with the result of each playoff round with a ruby-dotted Maple Leaf and "Champions" text. Overall, the ring displays approximately 320 genuine diamonds.

Ring bears the maker's mark of Canadian jewelers "Baron Championship Rings," and "10K" gold content. Band measures to a size ten and a half (10.5). Total weight is 105 grams. All original packaging, both cardboard and the wooden display box, is present. Virtually pristine condition for all lot contents.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
