Description

1996 Bowman's Best Rookie Kobe Bryant (Atomic Refractor) #R23 PSA Mint 9. Kobe was born in Philadelphia and later starred at Lower Merion High School. There he averaged 30.8 points a game in high school and was the nation's premier college prospect. He opted to become just the fourth player in NBA history to make the leap from high school to the NBA as a teenage rookie with the Los Angeles Lakers. In his 20-year career, all with the Lakers, he lead them to five NBA championships. After a fatal helicopter crash in January 2020, Bryant was posthumously voted into the basketball Hall of Fame and the Lakers retired both of his jersey numbers 8 and 24.

Offered is a 1996 Bowman's Best Rookie Kobe Bryant "Atomic Refractor" rookie card #R23. As the "refractor" part of the name indicates, this card has a highly reflective finish. The coloration shifts as the light hits the card differently displaying cross-like patterns. This is the most difficult variant of the young Bryant for this popular issue. Graded PSA Mint 9.
