Gifted to a French journalist in the champagne-soaked clubhouse

1991 Michael Jordan NBA Finals Clinching Game Worn Warm-Up Uniform. It was a changing of the NBA guard in the 1991 Finals, the emergence of Michael Jordan and the last appearance under the game's brightest spotlight for Magic Johnson, whose Los Angeles Lakers had claimed half of the Championships earned during the 1980's. Jordan would ultimately outpace that accomplishment for the 1990's Chicago Bulls, but, in love and in basketball, there's nothing like the first time.

That first clincher came on June 12, 1991 at the Great Western Forum, the last Finals contested on that historic hardcourt. After falling behind 93-90 in the fourth quarter, the Bulls went on a 9-0 run and never again forfeited the lead, closing out the Game Five at 108-101. Michael Jordan was the clear choice for Finals MVP, averaging 31.2 points per game with 11.4 assists, 6.6 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 1.4 blocks. He joined only George Mikan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the elite distinction of earning the scoring title during a Championship campaign.

On hand to document the historic feat for "Radio France Méditerranée" was journalist Lamine M. Fofana, whose photos of the game and letter of provenance accompany this offering. He writes:

"I am a member of the French press and was covering the NBA Finals for the 1990-91 season. All of these photographs were taken by me personally. After the game, I went into the locker room and interviewed Michael Jordan personally. He stated he could not give me his uniform but went to his locker and removed his sweats that he had worn both before and after the game and gave these to me."

And, sure enough, the warm-up ensemble perfectly matches Fofana's photos, the classic Bulls format enhanced by the addition of an American flag patch over the team logo at the jacket's heart, a show of solidarity with military personnel engaged in Operation Desert Storm. A "Bulls 25th Anniversary" patch on left sleeve further assures debut Championship vintage. A large team logo adorns verso. Extensive interior collar tagging reports, "Champion [size] 46, Bulls exclusivity, 90 [year], 23 [jersey number], 3" LB and 3" LS [tailoring]."

Matching pants tagging: "Champion [size] 36, Bulls exclusivity, 90 [year], 23 [jersey number], 38" IN and 1" HR [tailoring]."

Sweaty wear is evident throughout, strongly suggesting that the warm-up suit was a constant companion of Jordan's throughout the entirety of the 1990-91 NBA season. With ironclad provenance and elite vintage, it's one of the most appealing Jordan offerings to appear on the hobby's auction block in recent years. Letter of provenance from original recipient. LOA from MEARS, Authentic.
