    Description

The three-time College Player of the Year!

1971-73 Bill Walton UCLA Bruins Game Worn Jersey, MEARS A9. He's widely considered the greatest collegiate player in basketball history, and his domination of the sport's Heisman Trophy equivalent puts anybody arguing otherwise at a considerable disadvantage. Under the tutelage of the legendary John Wooden, the superstar center led the Bruins to two Division I national titles, continuing on two win another pair of Championships with Portland and Boston in the professional ranks. He's properly immortalized in both the Collegiate and Professional Basketball Halls of Fame.

This remarkable garment would be a worthy addition to the former, a style worn by Walton during his first three seasons in the City of Angels. The blue knit shell is adorned with yellow and white tackle twill identifiers reporting, "UCLA 32" on the chest, with those digits repeated in larger format on reverse. Proper "Sand-Knit Size 44" label appears at lower left front tail, exhibiting the sweat-fading of extensive wear.

The jersey exhibits use characterized by the experts at MEARS as "heavy," and narrowly misses their highest possible assessment, the single point deduction due only to an easily mendable clean side tear. Our records show this is the very first collegiate gamer from Walton to see the spotlight of a major auction's block, and we expect that the response will be appropriately strong for such a rare and important offering. LOA from MEARS, A9. Letter of provenance from consignor. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
