Late 1970's NBA Superstars Game Worn Sneakers Collection with David Thompson, Lanier. From the same long-serving (1972-82) San Antonio Spurs ball boy that provided this auction with George Gervin's historic sixty-three point game worn sneakers comes this intriguing assortment of footwear from the days of afros and short shorts on the NBA hardcourt. Featured in this lot: 1) David Thompson "Super Pros" single shoe, inscribed "To Andrew, See you next time, Your Buddy, David Thompson." Great "DT" customization on outer ankle. Strong wear. Inscription 9+/10. 2) Bob Lanier "Adidas" single shoe, inscribed "Peace, Bob Lanier." Massive shoe shows surface degradation at ankle, otherwise fine. Inscription 9+/10. 3) George McGinnis "Converse" single shoe, signed. Strong wear evident, no damage. Autograph 9+/10. 4) Artis Gilmore "Nike" single shoe, inscribed "To Andrew, Artis Gilmore [illegible]." Customization at rear ankle reads "Artis." Strong wear evident, no damage. Inscription 7/10. 5) Jo Jo White "Pro-Keds" pair of shoes, no autograph or other player attribution evident. Strong wear, no damage. Letter of provenance from the Spurs ball boy is included.
