    Description

Late 1970's Geese Ausbie Game Worn Warm-Up Jacket. Ever so slightly gaudy uniform piece illustrates just what happens when you mix Harlem Globetrotters flash with 1970's fashion sensibilities. The presented royal blue double-knit short-sleeved jacket was once owned and worn by top 'trotter Ausbie, the man who took over the title of "Clown Prince of Basketball" following Meadowlark Lemon's departure from the barnstorming basketball club in 1979. Terrific embroidered team logo patch is centered over the heart of the zipper-front garment, giving way to an unusual stars and bars back flap descending from the rear collar. Red, white and yellow trim rings the sleeve cuffs and lower hemline. Proper "Wilson [size] 44" label appears at interior collar, with embroidered swatches indicating set "2" and Ausbie's jersey number "35." Some wear is apparent, but the rare style survives in marvelous, eminently displayable condition. LOA from Lou Lampson.
