Circa 1972 Jerry West Game Worn Jersey. His propensity for hitting the big shot in an important game earned him the nickname "Mr. Clutch," while his consistent hardcourt brilliance earned him a plaque in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, and a position upon the even more exclusive roster of the NBA's Fifty Greatest Players. Presented is a purple roadster worn by an aging legend in the closing days of his incredible career, exhibiting superior wear from a period during which West was extending his since beaten points record as a Los Angeles Laker. White and yellow tackle twill announce "Lakers 44" on the chest, giving way to "West 44" on verso. The diminutive and proper "Tiernan" label at lower center exterior tail is faded to the brink of illegibility by sweaty use. Very possibly worn during the 1971-72 NBA Championship season, or the Western Conference Championship season that followed, this historic gamer is one of the very few West models to enter the collecting hobby, providing a special opportunity for one lucky winning bidder to travel back in time to when legends like Chamberlain, Baylor, Goodrich and West himself ruled the hardcourt. LOA from MEARS (Graded A8).
