A rare, full ensemble from the immortal "Dollar Bill"

Circa 1970 Bill Bradley Game Worn New York Knicks Uniform. If Princeton University had been constructed just one mile closer to Philadelphia, the story of Bill Bradley may have followed an entirely different trajectory. But the arbiters tasked with enforcing the NBA's territorial draft rule found that the Big Apple was just a bit closer to the Ivy League star's alma mater, assigning the New York Knicks the rights to the magna cum laude graduate in 1965. A Rhodes Scholarship would delay his coming out party at Madison Square Garden for two years as Bradley studied at Oxford University and played professional ball in Italy.

Three years after his 1967 debut in the blue and orange of the Knicks, Bradley and fellow future Hall of Famers Willis Reed, Walt Frazier and Dave DeBusschere would earn the first NBA Championship in franchise history, downing an equally loaded Los Angeles Lakers team in seven games. The winner-take-all finale was named in 2010 by ESPN the greatest Game Seven in Finals history, and arguably the most spectacular contest ever witnessed on a New York City court.

Could this be the uniform Bradley wore that evening? All we can say is that it is correct for the occasion, crafted from home white cheesecloth and exhibiting the light wear one might expect for playoff-only action. Orange and blue tackle twill announces "New York 24" on the chest, giving way to "Bradley 24" similarly applied to verso. Interior collar holds proper "Gerry Cosby" manufacturer's label with secondary tags reporting size "46," "Union Made" and washing instructions. A black sharpie signature on the chest rates 9/10.

The matching trunks are just as impressive, with a spectacular embroidered "Bradley" swatch at interior waistband, beside "Cosby [size] 36" labeling. Another black sharpie signature from Bradley appears here as well, just above the lower left front trim. The jersey has been assessed at an A6 level by MEARS, the shorts simply "Authentic" as per the service's guidelines.

The uniform first appeared in the hobby in 1992, eight years after his number "24" became the fourth digits retired by the Knicks franchise, and we supply a copy of Bradley correspondence in which he asks if the recipient would like "some old jerseys" he still had. As a full uniform from an NBA 50 Greatest player with player provenance, this is a particularly special opportunity for the advanced basketball uniform collector. LOA from MEARS, A6. Full LOA from PSA/DNA for each (jersey, shorts). Full LOA from James Spence Authentication. Letter of provenance (copy) from Bill Bradley. LOA from Heritage Auctions.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
