Description

Circa 1969 Dave DeBusschere Game Worn New York Knicks Jersey. Glorious home white gamer features a two-year piping style, providing a strong chance that it was sported by the Hall of Fame power forward during the Knicks' magical 1969-70 NBA Championship season. In fact, the marvelous wear and the relative frugality of the professional game at this period would strongly suggest use during both of the prospective seasons, and an included World Champion team photo appears to picture DeBusschere in this very shirt.

The Springfield-quality gamer derives from the personal collection of Knicks equipment manager Danny Whalen and includes a photocopy of a 1993 handwritten letter from DeBusschere attesting to his usage. The style is instantly reminiscent of one of the greatest eras in Big Apple sports, a period of two years in which the Jets, Mets, and Knicks reached the promised land. "New York 22" is applied to the chest in orange and blue tackle twill, with "DeBusschere 22" similarly affixed to verso. The rippling in these identifiers speak to lengthy, sweaty use at Madison Square Garden, quite likely during the sixty-two and twenty regular season and the seven-game Finals victory over Chamberlain, Barry and West's seemingly invincible Los Angeles Lakers.

The only fault to note is the loss of the original manufacturer's labeling, though the stitching outline is still easily visible beside the proper size "46" identifier. A 7/10 black sharpie autograph from the jersey's former owner completes the package. With marvelous provenance and direct lineage to a man on the esteemed NBA's 50 Greatest Players roster makes this one of the most exciting basketball offerings to appear at auction in recent memory. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (autograph). Full LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph).
