The first jersey ever worn by Curry in NBA competition!

2009 Stephen Curry NBA Summer League Opening Game Worn Golden State Warriors Jersey--Photo Matched!
He was the fifth guard selected in the 2009 draft, hoping to emerge from the shadow of his father and seventeen-year NBA veteran Dell Curry. Today Steph Curry is widely considered the greatest shooter in the history of the league and the central figure of a Golden State Warriors team angling for the same brand of dynastic immortality enjoyed by the Russell-era Celtics and the Jordan-era Bulls.

While nobody can be certain how Steph Curry's NBA story will end, its beginning is a matter of public record, his first taste of professional competition coming in the form of a July 10, 2009 NBA Summer League contest against the Houston Rockets at the Cox Pavilion on the UNLV campus. The Warriors would take the short end of a 73-69 result that day, but the first step on a march toward athletic immortality had been taken.

Presented is one of the most significant basketball pieces ever to appear upon the hobby's auction block, the very first NBA jersey worn by a player who is likely to join the upper reaches of the sport's pantheon by the time the tale is done. It is photo matched by the experts at MeiGray to that first contest of the 2009 NBA Summer League season and exhibits solid, sweaty wear. The jersey is a reversible style with screened identifiers, each side bearing the number "30" that Curry favors to this day, and a team logo/name and surname appearing on front and back respectively. The navy blue side holds "Adidas NBA Fusion" label. These Summer League jerseys lack size labeling, but the dimensions are correct for Curry's wiry frame.

Beginnings and endings have always occupied rarefied air in the sports collectibles marketplace, and while Curry rookie jerseys are fiercely hunted by the hobby's most serious basketball collectors, there is only one garment that can lay claim to the undisputed title as the very first. As the star of Steph Curry continues to rise, it stands to reason that the value of this jersey will travel a parallel path. LOA from MeiGray. Photo matches. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
