Description

1997-98 Tim Duncan Game Worn San Antonio Spurs Rookie Jersey with Team Letter. Probably the top power forward in NBA history, Tim Duncan was the heart and soul the San Antonio Spurs for nineteen seasons when the franchise captured five NBA titles. Personifying "Pop's System" during his tenure, Duncan lived by the adage "Speak softly and carry a big stick."

Duncan's list of basketball achievements is mind-boggling: NABC Defensive Player of the Year (3), First Team All-American (2), National College Player of the Year, #1 pick of the NBA Draft, NBA Rookie of the Year, NBA All-Star (15), All-NBA First Team (10), NBA All-Defensive First Team (8), NBA MVP (2), NBA Finals MVP (3), and NBA champion (5).

This home white mesh announces "Spurs 21" and "Duncan 21" in black/gray tackle twill on the front and back, respectively, with black/gray/white piping and trim. Four tags in the tail include "Nike 50" and "Length +4". The interior side-seam offers a "1997-98" flap tag.

The jersey shows game wear and the absence of a black armband for former owner Angelo Drossos confirms it was worn in the first part of Duncan's rookie year, prior to mid-January 1998. Meanwhile, an excellent letter from the Spurs equipment manager on team stationery further sets this example apart from the vast majority of Duncan jerseys previously offered for public sale. Get him before the Hall does. Letter of provenance from Clarence Rinehart. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
