1996-97 Scottie Pippen Game Worn & Signed Chicago Bulls Uniform--Photo Matched To Twelve Games & Career High Points Game! The other half of the most dynamic duo in NBA history, Scottie Pippen was also basketball's greatest wingman, playing Robin to Michael Jordan's Batman. Together the pair won six titles in eight seasons.Building on the work of his pioneering point-forward predecessors Rick Barry, John Johnson and Paul Pressey, Pippen took the position into uncharted territory in terms of its job description and importance to the offense. In his role as master facilitator, Pippen's ability to handle and pass the basketball at 6-8 allowed Jordan to concentrate on what he did best - scoring and ending games.
The best wing defender of his era, Scottie always played the other team's top scorer. There is no wing in today's NBA who can lock up the smaller, quicker guards one-on-one above the foul line extended the way Pippen did. He could also defend well against bigs (see 1991 NBA Finals versus Magic). Pippen was also particularly unusual in that he was a great push-up defender who also ranked high in steals, a combination rarely found in one player. And he was the key defender in Chicago's vaunted trap sets.
This home white mesh jersey displays all sewn-on red/black tackle twill identifiers, with "Bulls 33" on the front and "Pippen 33" on the verso. The NBA's golden anniversary logo patch resides on the upper left chest with "Champion 48" and +4" Extra Body Length" tags in the tail and inner side seam, respectively. The matching shorts also display the gold NBA logo patch, with exclusive ("Rise +2, Inseam +3") and Champion (size "42" and "33" in black marker) tags in the waist. Both pieces are beautifully autographed, large and bold, in NM vintage black sharpie.
Originally purchased from a 2002 CharitaBulls auction, the jersey exhibits incredible game use, with noticeable wear to the tackle twill identifiers and mesh fabric, including fraying and pliability. Best of all, though, this jersey exemplar is photo matched to twelve games (between October 26, 1996 and March 7, 1997, eleven of which were won by the Bulls) of the championship season, including February 18, 1997 versus Denver when Pippen scored a career high forty-seven points. A rare museum-quality specimen from a Hall of Famer and Top 50 player, and the best Pippen gamer to emerge in the hobby to date. LOA from Resolution Photomatching. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
