    The Original Dream Team!

1992 Michael Jordan Barcelona Olympics Game Worn Uniform. It was the cover of the February 18, 1991 Sports Illustrated that affixed the label to a basketball team that stands in hardcourt history as the greatest ever assembled. For the first time in history, the restriction against professional participation in Olympic competition was lifted, a rule change that propelled the name "The Dream Team" into our global sports lexicon. Only the purest form of serendipity could account for the overturning of the amateurs-only Olympic rule at this precise moment in NBA history, the peak of a talent swell that brought together a staggering assembly of fresh-faced rookies and aging veterans from the upper reaches of the game's pantheon.

Of the dozen men who steamrolled international competition by an average of 43.8 points en route to Olympic Gold in Barcelona, only Christian Laettner lacks Springfield enshrinement, and is joined by Chris Mullin as the only men absent from the 1999 list of the Fifty Greatest Players in NBA History. But on that esteemed roster of legends--Bird, Magic, Barkley, Malone, Ewing--it is Jordan that stands alone as the greatest name in the sport.

Here we present the only known road blue Jordan uniform ever to surface from this fabled team, acquired by our consignor from the Fourth Annual Grey Flannel Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Induction Auction, with their letter of authenticity. Precise in every detail to those worn by His Airness in the cultural capital of Spain, the jersey is screened with the logo of "USA Basketball" on the chest, with Jordan's iconic "23" traded here for lucky number "9," a digit repeated on verso. Noteworthy is the distinctive arch of the white screened "Jordan" above, a key factor in determining authenticity. Dual tagging at lower left front tail announces "USA Basketball, Designed and Tailored Exclusively for 1992 Summer Olympic Games," and "Champion [size] 46." Interior left side seam holds a pair of flap tags, announcing "100% Nylon" and "3" Extra Body Length."

Also key to establishing authenticity is the rarely seen matching pair of shorts, likewise screened with the "USA Basketball" logo at each leg and tagged "Champion [size] 36" at interior waistband. Tailoring tags at interior rear ream denote "2 Inch Extra Rise" and "2 Inch Extra Inseam" along with the "100% Nylon" label, each curled from sweat and washing. In both jersey and shorts, clear game wear is evident. The former is enhanced by a 9+/10 black sharpie signature from the jersey's original owner, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Upper Deck, which conducted the signing. LOA from Grey Flannel/Basketball Hall of Fame. COA from Upper Deck (autograph). Full LOA from PSA/DNA (autograph). Full LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph).
