Description

1989-90 Charles Barkley Game Worn Philadelphia 76ers Jersey. Has there ever been a basketball player the size of Charles Barkley with his skill set? Standing just 6-4 ½ tall (yes, he was listed at 6-6), Sir Charles played both the small forward and power forward positions, which is unheard of in the modern game. Still he managed to post up and outrebound much taller opponents with brute strength and unnatural leaping ability. He even holds the distinction of being the shortest man to ever lead the NBA in rounding. Despite playing between 252 and 285 pounds, he would routinely go coast-to-coast, using his deadly combination of speed and ball handling ability to fly by the quickest players in the league. A legendary leaper, his first pro coach tells a story how Charles came to training camp overweight at 302 pounds yet was still able to stand directly under the basket and dunk flat-footed off either foot.

The jersey on offer here was worn by Barkley when he was twenty-six years old and at the peak of his brashness and athletic powers. The classic 76ers style is also the most desirable of all his uniform styles. In this jersey, Sir Charles rang up 25.2 points per game, 11.5 rebounds per game and shot 60% from the field. Bearing the proper tagging and exhibiting a season's worth of wear, the jersey is signed in NRMT black sharpie on the back "4". Here's your chance to own the ultimate representation of one of the most talented, unique and charismatic sports stars of the modern era. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication (signature).
