    Description

1987-88 Patrick Ewing Game Worn New York Knicks Jersey. Conspiracy theorists still have a field day with the NBA Draft Lottery's opening act. Plenty of people subscribe to the theory of The Frozen Envelope. Supposedly, David Stern reached into that clear plastic bubble, filled with seven of the bottom feeders in the NBA, and made sure the Knicks were getting the first pick. Did David Stern really have the Knicks team emblem frozen so it would ensure Patrick Ewing would play in The Big Apple? The Knicks won the lottery and people still argue if the NBA was corrupt in its ways.

Ewing's career spanned 17 years and he had the Knicks on the doorstep of a championship. He turned a downtrodden organization into winners. Boy, they could sure use some of the spark provided by the big man from Georgetown. This "Sand Knit size 46" jersey was worn by the Hall of Fame big man during the 1987-88 season. Ewing was his customary brilliant self as he average 20.2 points and 8.2 rebounds a night. This home mesh pullover shows good overall use. The traditional two-color orange-on-blue tackle twill identifiers show wear and have puckered somewhat. Ewing's retired digits are fashioned on both sides while "Ewing" is arched to the reverse in royal blue tackle twill. A "Gerry Cosby" manufacturer's tag occupies the collar. The tail holds these labels: "87" (year), "6" L.B.," Knicks exclusivity and Sand Knit size. A letter of provenance from Ballpark Heroes (Kim Stigall) further establishes provenance. The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
