1987-88 Michael Jordan Game Worn & Signed Jordan III Sneakers - Style Matched to Dunk Contest! The first of five NBA MVP seasons for the burgeoning legend, who led all scorers with a staggering thirty-five points per game on the offensive end while earning a Defensive Player of the Year nod for his backcourt brilliance during the 1987-88 campaign. Jordan would lead the Bulls to a fifty and thirty-two regular season finish, and earn his first playoff series victory against the Washington Bullets before falling to the more experienced "Bad Boys" of Detroit in five games.

Offered is a pair of sneakers exhibiting solid wear from that breakout season, an early Air Jordan format highly collectible for its design alone, but amplified exponentially in appeal due to its direct Jordan association. A letter of provenance from an early owner reports that the shoes had been a gift to a Bulls staffer who had fallen quite ill, a tale bolstered by the very unique "Best Wishes, Michael Jordan" inscription on the right shoe and "My Very Best, Michael Jordan" inscription on the left. Experienced Jordan collectors are well aware that salutations and sentiments from the hardcourt hero are extraordinarily rare, and typically found only when the autograph is directed to a personal acquaintance.

The letter goes on to state that the owner's grandfather was friends with this Bulls staffer and purchased the shoes from him, which were then passed on to the owner when his grandfather died. He mistakenly attributes the shoes to the 1988-89 season, but the Jordan III format belies this attribution.

Each shoe is labeled size "13" on interior tag with "871112FT1" coding, assuring Jordan ownership. As is quite typical for sneakers of this vintage, the rubber soles have degraded over the decades, chipping and flaking, but the leather uppers remain unaffected, as do the 9/10 black sharpie inscriptions and signatures. Each shoe is accompanied by its own full PSA/DNA autograph letter of authenticity Letter of provenance from early owner. Individual Full LOA's from PSA/DNA for each shoe autograph.
