1986-87 Patrick Ewing Game Worn New York Knicks Jersey, MEARS A8. The Knicks' pinned their entire future squarely on the shoulders of Patrick Ewing after selecting him with the top overall pick of the 1985 draft. He didn't disappoint. The franchise center came within a jump shot of winning a ring and was always a dominating force. Worn when Ewing was just beginning to shape his career is this "Sand Knit [size] 46" road jersey. Moderate wear is visible on the two-color tackle twill identifiers. "New York 33" takes residence on front while "Ewing 33" is supported on back. Stitched into the collar is a "Gerry Cosby" manufacturer's label while the tail features three tags: "6" LB" (swatch), Knicks exclusivity and size. The inner side contains a washing instructions/fabric content indicator. According to the MEARS LOA, the labeling period of the Sand Knit tag is 1984-86. Teams began wearing jerseys with the NBA silhouette logo on the shoulder stirrup in the 1986-87 season. MEARS has graded the mesh garment A8. Ewing, a notoriously tough autograph conquest, signed the reverse in 10/10 felt tip ink. A Steiner hologram/certificate help authenticate the penning. LOA from MEARS, A8. COA from Steiner. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
