1986-87 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Game Worn & Signed Los Angeles Lakers Jersey With Abdul-Jabbar Letter. Ironclad provenance is supplied here in the form of a signed letter from the NBA's most prolific scorer, who concludes his text with the words, "I, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, certify that this jersey is authentic as described and has been in my possession since it was used by me during the 1986-87 NBA season." It was a memorable one in the City of Angels, concluding with a Finals victory over Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics to supply Kareem with his fifth of six Championship rings.The classic purple mesh format is instantly recognizable despite the fact that the double-threes have been retired from the Lakers wardrobe for more than three decades. "Lakers 33" is applied to the chest in yellow and white tackle twill, with "Abdul-Jabbar 33" balancing the design on verso. Dual "Sand-Knit" labels at lower left front tail denote Lakers exclusivity and size "44" respectively. They are joined by embroidered swatches reporting year "86" and tailoring alterations "4" LB." A final white swatch is blank. The jersey exhibits solid wear and is autographed in 9/10 black sharpie on front numerals. Letter of provenance from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
