1985 Michael Jordan Game Worn & Signed Nike Air Jordan 1 Sneakers from The Anthony Arduini Collection. The crown jewel of The Anthony Arduini Collection is this pair of the shoes that started a revolution both on and off the NBA hardcourt, the mighty Air Jordan 1's worn in competition by their namesake. Arduini reports to us that he encountered a Nike rep during a Chicago Bulls visit to the Washington Bullets and simply inquired if he might be able to score a pair of MJ's sneakers for him. Soon afterwards, this pair arrived at his doorstep in a cardboard box.The most likely course of events is that the Nike rep went into the locker room after that Bullets game and took ownership of the pair that Jordan had been wearing during that visit to our nation's capital, but this is simply logical speculation. The assurance of ownership by Jordan is rendered ironclad due to the stamped white coding at each interior ankle. Left is size "13" with "850204-TYPS" language, indicating production between February and April of 1985 at the Tong Yang factory. "PS" stands for "Player Sample," unique to Jordan's personal footwear. The right shoe bears the same coding but the size "13 1/2" marking that, once again, never appeared on a retail model shoe and was made for Jordan alone. The last piece of evidence is a glorious "Best Wishes, Michael Jordan" autograph at interior left ankle in the GOAT's early signing format, projecting 8/10 strength.
Game wear is light but definite, with creasing at the toe box and light soiling at the soles. The padding at upper ankle is a bit stiff--typical after forty years of storage--and it does not in any way affect the aesthetics. Letter of provenance from Anthony Arduini.
