1984-85 Kareem-Abdul-Jabbar NBA Finals (Game Three) Worn Los Angeles Lakers Warmup Jacket from The Nate D Grate Collection - Photo Matched! After capturing five NBA MVP awards in his first ten pro seasons, Kareem had won just a single title and his interest in the game started to wane. However, with the arrival of Magic Johnson in 1979, Cap (and the entire NBA for that matter) were re-energized with the birth of Showtime and the emergence of the Laker's as a perennial title contender. The 1980's would prove to be a golden era for Kareem, L.A. and the basketball world with the 'purple and gold' earning eight Finals appearances and five rings in the decade. And at the center of it all was Kareem.Lengthy, snap-front road knit warmup jacket is cloaked in Forum Gold with purple/white trim adorning the sleeves/waist, and purple braid outlining the collar. Other superlative design elements include a "Lakers" patch over the left chest, oversized "NBA" logo patch at the lower right front, along with the franchise's twenty-fifth anniversary patch.
"Abdul-Jabbar" magnificently arched on the verso in purple and white tackle twill. Minimalist tagging features a singular "Tiernan, Glendale, Calif." manufacturer's label in the collar. Exhibits solid wear from the 1984-85 season when the Los Angeles finally defeated Boston in the NBA Finals and Kareem was named the Finals MVP.
