Description

1983-84 Elvin Hayes Game Worn Houston Rockets Jersey. His number "44" hangs from the rafters in retirement at Hofheinz Pavilion on the campus of the University of Houston, so it was a joyous homecoming when this supremely talented native son returned to the Rockets fold after a decade in a Bullets uniform. Presented is one of the final jerseys from Hayes' brilliant career, one commemorated with a bronze plaque at the Basketball Hall of Fame and inclusion in the even more discriminating list of the NBA's Fifty Greatest Players.

In his sixteenth and final NBA season at age thirty-eight, the legendary power forward was slowed but still effective, maintaining his career pace of approximately twenty points per forty-eight minute game, but seeing less game time from his bench role. Nonetheless, the red mesh gamer exhibits solid game use, the white tackle twill identifiers lightly toned with dye bleed from sweaty wear. These identifiers announce "Houston 44" on the chest and "Hayes 44" on reverse. Interior collar is tagged "Rawlings [size] 44" with the proper "4 Inch Extra Length" tailoring flap tag to the right. A second "Rawlings" label is affixed at lower left front tail. One of the very last jerseys ever worn by one of the greatest power forwards in NBA history. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
