1982-83 Moses Malone Game Worn Philadelphia 76ers Jersey. The man who virtually started the prep to pro routine, Moses Malone finished his twenty-one year career as one of the most acclaimed centers the NBA has witnessed. While he didn't have the bravado or flair of Wilt or Shaq, Malone was a relentless force around the rim and could redirect almost any shot. For some reason, gamers worn by Malone have eluded some of the finest collections. We searched the auction archives and only unearthed two other Malone 76ers game-worn jerseys which have sold. We assume a spirited bidding war will be waged over this tremendous gamer. Worn by Malone during his early days in The City of Brotherly Love is this "Wilson [size] 44" road jersey. Solid wear is showcased on the red mesh garment with fraying and puckering in the two-tone tackle twill identifiers. "Sixers 2" is formed on front while "Malone 2" is centered on the reverse. Three labels appear in the tail: "Pearson," "Wilson" and an additional length designator. Wilson used to use a laundry pen to inscribe extra length on the cloth tag, no long decipherable . The jersey actually shows about 4" of extra length. Wonderful wash wear appears on all three labels. This road jersey would most likely have been used by Malone during the early portion of the 1982-83 season and through the All-Star break as he predominantly wore jerseys with a full block "2" numeral during that period. Later photos from that championship season show Malone wearing a slash "2" number font. Ironically the opposite was true for Malone's home jerseys during that season, when the Petersburg dynamo wore "slash 2's" during the first half of the season and full block numbers the rest of the year. This was originally sourced from a front office team associate. Overall, an exceptional example of the very few Malone gamers to surface. Photo style matched. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
