1980's David Thompson Game Worn Denver Nuggets Jersey. "He was the guy I looked up to when I was your age," Michael Jordan told students at his basketball camps of man he had watched as a youngster attending NC State games. Though dunking had been outlawed by "The Lew Alcindor Rule" during Thompson's collegiate days, he brought down the house in his final home game with a forbidden slam that earned him a technical and a thunderous ovation as coach Norm Sloan removed him from the floor. He's widely credited, along with NC State teammate Monte Towe, as the inventor of the "alley-oop," now a staple of the high-flying game. It was Thompson who introduced Jordan at his 2009 Hall of Fame induction, where he himself had been enshrined in 1996.

Presented is the jersey most commonly associated with the number one draft pick of both the ABA and NBA in 1975, the Denver Nuggets number "33" model that was raised to the rafters of McNichols Sports Arena in 1992. The blue mesh roadster is adorned with white and yellow tackle twill reporting "Denver 33" on the chest. The digits are repeated in identical format on verso below a proper but rather unusual nameplate with two-inch block lettered "Thompson" applied to the jersey body in contrast stitching. Tagging at lower left front tail from "Powers Mfg. Co." denotes "2" LB" but the size tag is faded beyond legibility. Consistent puckering is featured throughout. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
