Possibly worn during World Championship rookie campaign!

1979-85 Magic Johnson Game Worn Los Angeles Lakers Jersey, MEARS A10. "I don't think there will ever be another six-foot nine point guard who smiles while he humiliates you," joked longtime Lakers teammate James Worthy of the man who lit the torch that LeBron James carries today. With the elite ball-handling, passing and shooting skills of a guard in the body of a power forward, Johnson presented an unprecedented challenge to defenders, and served as the most essential and celebrated component of a 1980's Lakers squad that claimed eight Western Conference and five NBA Championships. Along with Michael Jordan's number "23" Bulls jersey and Larry Bird's Celtics number "33," this garment stands as one of the most recognizable in NBA history.

Constructed of road purple mesh, the jersey boldly proclaims "Lakers 32" in yellow and white tackle twill, with "Johnson 32" taking up the rear. Center interior tail holds the proper "Tiernan" manufacturer's label that populated Lakers jerseys during the first seven years of Johnson's professional service. As such, assignment to the World Championship rookie season of 1979-80 remains a possibility. MEARS assesses game use at a "moderate" level and finds no deviations from the jersey's condition as owned by Johnson, beyond a 9/10 gold sharpie signature below the front digits. It's a picture-perfect representation from what is arguably the NBA's greatest era, deserving of its unimprovable rating. LOA from MEARS, A10. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
