1976-77 Bill Bradley Game Worn New York Knicks Jersey, MEARS A8. If Princeton University had been constructed just one mile closer to Philadelphia, the story of Bill Bradley may have followed an entirely different trajectory. But the arbiters tasked with enforcing the NBA's territorial draft rule found that the Big Apple was just a bit closer to the Ivy League star's alma mater, assigning the New York Knicks the rights to the magna cum laude graduate in 1965. A Rhodes Scholarship would delay his coming out party at Madison Square Garden for two years as Bradley studied at Oxford University and played professional ball in Italy.

Three years after his 1967 debut in the blue and orange of the Knicks, Bradley and fellow future Hall of Famers Willis Reed, Walt Frazier and Dave DeBusschere would earn the first NBA Championship in franchise history, downing an equally loaded Los Angeles Lakers team in seven games. The winner-take-all finale was named in 2010 by ESPN the greatest Game Seven in Finals history, and arguably the most spectacular contest ever witnessed on a New York City court.

Bradley's roundball career was noteworthy but his life's work was just beginning when he hung up the sneakers following the 1977 season. The Knick great ran for the Senate following his retirement and began a successful political career. This "Medalist Sand Knit size 42" jersey saw action as Bradley's basketball career was nearing its end. MEARS graded the jersey A8 and notifies it was worn in 1976-77. There is a also mention of the jersey originating from an equipment manager although no LOA accompanies. "New York 24" is fashioned on the front in orange-on-blue tackle twill while "Bradley" is arched in single-color royal blue on back. "24" is repeated on the reverse. Light, but definite, use is exhibited on the white mesh garment. A "Gerry Cosby" manufacturer's tag is sewn in the collar. The athletic outfitter supplied the Knicks with jerseys during this time period. A lone Sand Knit size tag (glue affixed) appears in the tail. While today's generation only knows turmoil when the New York Knicks are discussed, this jersey hearkens back to a time when the team was at the top of the basketball scene. LOA from MEARS, A8. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
